Icons are a key part of your app’s visual language — they help users navigate, understand actions, and connect with your brand’s personality. With the Custom Icons extension, you can go beyond the built-in icon sets and upload your own icons to match your brand identity precisely.
Table of Contents
1. Understanding the icons page before custom icons
By default, every Audiorista project includes an Icons section in the Appearance settings.
You can access it by going to My App → Icons on your Audiorista dashboard.
This section displays a list of standard icon sets that come pre-installed with your app. These icons are designed for clarity and usability across devices.
You can browse under Iconset and choose between options such as: Audiorista, Material design, Font awesome, Feather.
2. What the custom icons extension adds
This extension lets you upload your own icons and use them throughout your app.
With Custom Icons, you can:
Align the app’s look precisely with your brand’s design system.
Replace default icons with branded ones (e.g., your own “Play” or “Home” icon).
Deliver a more cohesive, professional experience across every screen.
3. How to enable and use custom icons
Step 1: Install the Custom Icons extension
Go to Extensions in your project dashboard.
Locate Custom Icons.
Install it
Once installed, a new upload area will appear within your Icons section.
Step 2: Upload your custom icon
Navigate to My App → Icons.
Under advanced, you will see the button Add custom icon
Under Label, choose the specific icon you want to replace (for example, “Play,” “Pause,” or “Download”).
Upload your custom icon file in
.svg
Your uploaded icon will overwrite the default one, and you’ll see it appear in your icon list.
💡 Tip: Use clear naming for each icon file (e.g., play-filled.svg, pause-outline.svg) so it’s easy to manage replacements later.
4. Previewing and testing custom icons
Custom icons, like custom fonts, do not display in the Preview App. The preview app uses standard system icons, as it does not have your custom icon installed.
To see your custom icons in action:
Go to the Distribution tab.
Create a new build of your app.
Once the build is ready, install it on your device.
Your custom icons will appear throughout the app interface in the new build.
⚠️ Important: This limitation applies to all uploaded icons. Custom assets only render in requested builds, not in the preview app.
5. Managing and replacing icons
To update or replace a custom icon:
Return to the Icons section.
Select the icon you wish to change.
Remove the existing file and upload a new one.
Rebuild your app in the Distribution tab to apply the change.
All instances of that icon will automatically update to the new version once the build is live.
By adding custom icons, you bring your brand’s design system directly into your Audiorista experience — reinforcing your visual identity and improving the overall user experience.
If you’re on a Business or Enterprise plan, try uploading your first custom icon today and build your app to see it in action!
