How menus work
Your app’s main menu is the foundation of the user experience. It allows users to move between different sections quickly and intuitively.
In Audiorista apps, the main navigation appears as a tab bar at the bottom of the screen. You decide what tabs appear, what they’re called, and where they take your users.
In the Audiorista dashboard, you can manage menus under CMS → Menus.
Drafts vs. published menus
Audiorista uses a versioning system for your menus:
- Draft Menu: Only visible in the Preview App and it lets you test changes safely.
- Published menus are shown in your production app. Once published, changes are immediately reflected for your users.
How to create a Menu
To create a new Menu, go to CMS → Menus, and then click New Draft.
Name your Menu, and click Submit.
Then start by adding menu items.
Adding menu items
Click Add to create a new section, then customize its settings as needed.
When you add a new section, Audiorista shows you several options. Each option comes with its own purpose and behavior:
Explore
First, you will be asked for the type of section you want to add to your menu. This option lets you showcase different types of content or organize them into structured tabs. You can choose between the following:
👉 Layout: Insert one of your content layouts in a tab. Need help setting up a Layout tab? Read this article.
👉 Feed: Insert one of your content feeds in a tab. Want to learn more about the Feed tab? Read this article.
👉 Multi tab (Sub Menu): Insert several subtabs within a single tab, useful for organizing related content inside one main tab.
Library
The Library section is all about giving users access to their personal library content and activity. Choose this option if you want to showcase different ways users can keep track of their progress, collections, or saved content:
Favourites: Add a tab to show all titles the user has favorited.
Downloads: Add a tab to show all downloaded titles.
Collections: Add a tab where the user can create and manage their own collections.
Titles history: Add a tab with the user's progress history across titles.
Collection history: Add a tab with the user's collection progress history.
Queue: Add a tab with the user's queue of titles.
Remote: Displays titles the user has purchased or been granted access to through an external system.
Tags
The Tags section allows you to create content discovery experiences based on tags. Choose this option if you want to help users find titles by what they follow or browse all available tags:
Followed titles: Display a curated list of titles based on the tags the user follows.
Followed tags: Show the tags a user follows, giving them a quick overview.
All tags: Show all available displayed tags.
Other
Other lets you add essential tools and navigation tabs that support the app experience:
Settings: Add a tab for app settings, where users can adjust preferences.
Search: Add a dedicated search tab for quick access to all content.
After choosing the section type, go through the available settings to configure screens, labels, and icons.
Click Save Draft to apply the changes to the Preview App, or Publish to make them live in your production app.
You can reorder tabs using the arrow buttons or remove a tab by clicking the trash icon.
Make sure to save your changes every time you make an update.
Subtabs and nested menus
If your app has a lot of content, you may not want to fit everything into separate main tabs. That’s where Multi-Tab sections come in. They let you add subtabs inside a single main tab, creating a second level of navigation for better organization.
How it works
When adding a new menu section, choose Multi Tab.
Give your Multi Tab section a header label (for example, Genres).
-
Configure the header style to control how your submenu is displayed. Options include:
Only sub-menu – clean view with just the submenu.
Sub-menu with square logo – adds a logo above the submenu.
Sub-menu with search and settings – includes search and settings actions in the header.
Roomy header – more space around the header.
Custom – fully customizable option.
-
Choose a menu item style:
With label – show both icon and label.
No label – show icon only.
And then choose the menu item label.
Select an icon for your Multi Tab from the library (e.g., tab_icon_book, tab_icon_podcast, tab_icon_history, tab_icon_search, or custom icons).
Save your Multi Tab. This step is required before you can add subtabs.
Once saved, go back into the menu section → Multi Tab → and then add subtabs (for example: Podcasts, Audiobooks, Saved). Each subtab works like a regular tab with its own screen, settings, and configuration, but they remain grouped under the parent tab.
Here also, make sure to save your changes when you make an update.

✔️ Place your most important tab first—that's your default landing screen.
✔️ Use recognizable icons for quick identification.
✔️ Test your menu thoroughly in the Preview App before publishing.
